Looking for a quality electric bike at a budget price? The Eleglide M1 Plus has features that make it one of the top contenders in the entry level e-bike market. Read our review to find out about its specs, features, accessories & performance so you can decide if the Eleglide M1 Plus is the right electric bike for you.

Eleglide M1 Plus Overview - What to expect

Firstly, you will be surprised.... followed by a feeling of happiness...then the thought of why didn't I buy one sooner?
The Eleglide M1 Plus offers the 4 Electric Bike must haves but for the fraction of the price:
1. Power
2. Range
3. Versatility
4. Comfort
Lets go through these in more detail below.

Eleglide M1 Plus - Does It Have The Required Power For An eMTB?

      Motor

The Eleglide M1 Plus uses a smooth, but powerful 250W brushless motor, complimented with the pedal assist sensor which, once pedaling, easily gets you to the 25km/h or 15.5mph top speed limit.

      Pedal Assist

The bike has 5 levels of pedal assist to support you on any type of journey. The lower level of assists can be used to support gentle rides on flatter surfaces or you can crank up the assist mode to handle the hills with ease.

      Gearing

The 21-speed Shimano gearing provides a great range for climbing steep hills, supported with the triple crankset on the front wheel & the Shimano gear shifter, offersnice & positive gear changes.

What Range Does The Eleglide M1 Plus Offer?

      Battery

The Eleglide M1 Plus uses a 36v 12.5ah (450Wh) battery fitted in a Hailong case. You can expect up to 60 miles in one charge if the ideal conditions are met, however a range of 40 - 50 miles is more realistic with the outside temperature, rider weight, gradient & level of assist all variable factors.
The beauty of the Hailong case is you can either upgrade, or buy a spare battery if required. The case is opened using a key lock mechanism and effortlessly slots into place.

Versatility - The Eleglide M1 Plus Is More Than Just An Electric Mountain Bike

We firmly put the Eleglide M1 Plus into the All-Terrain e-bike category, rather than a specialist mountain bike. There are a few features we support this view below.

      Suspension

The Eleglide M1 Plus has a hydraulic suspension, which is good at soaking up potholes on roads and softening the lumps & bumps on a nature trial. It also includes a front lockout function, which stiffens the suspension & removes any movement & absorption of energy whilst pedaling, improving your efficiency & speed on smooth tarmac surfaces.

      Wheels & Tyres

The bike is fitted with 27.5" wheels, which are the perfect mountain bike size & the CST AllTerrain tyres offer fantastic versatility, by offering a good amount of puncture resistance & roll on tarmac, as well as an optimal tread pattern for light off-roading.

      Accessories

There are mounting points for fitting a rear pannier rack & mudguards if required (not included in package) if you wanted to add trekking rides to the list, whilst the front headlight can be operated via the display, offering great visibility at night.

How does the Eleglide M1 Plus offer comfort?

      Sizing

The Eleglide M1 Plus is available in one size (18" frame) which is classed as a medium sized mountain bike. From a riders height perspective, this is optimal for riders between 5'6" - 5'10", however we have seen reviews from riders over 6' praising a comfortable riding position, which is backed up Eleglide themselves, who recommend riders between 5'5" to 6'4". In summary, the bike offers a comfortable riding position across a wide range of rider heights with no cramped feeling. We have already mentioned the next feature, but it's also integral to the comfort of an electric mountain bike, so we will briefly touch on it again.

      Suspension

As mentioned earlier, the Eleglide M1 Plus has a hydraulic suspension, which is great soaking up potholes on roads and softening the lumps & bumps on a nature trial, allowing a super comfortable & smooth ride no matter what the terrain, with further comfort offered by a surprisingly comfortable seat.

Quick tip - we have been told the best tyre pressure for comfort and performance is 39 psi.

Other Eleglide M1 Plus Key Features

      LCD Display

The LCD display offers as good functionality as a more premium display. It's clear & easy to navigate, providing all the essential information you would need - speed, trip, battery range and power/assist mode.

      Brakes

The mechanical brake discs work well for what they are. Naturally, mechanical brakes aren't as powerful as hydraulic brakes, but for the price point & nature of this ebike, mechanical breaks are more than adequate.

      Style & Finish

The Eleglide M1 Plus has a really nice paintwork & finish. The colour scheme stands out well, as the yellow decals pops off the matt grey base coat. The 680mm wide handlebars & sloping top tube compliment the overall geometry of the bike & all electric cables are routed internally, offering a sleek finish.

      Conclusion

TheEleglide M1 Plus offers fantastic value for money, with high quality components & overall build quality for an entry level Electric Mountain Bike. It makes an ideal daily commuter bike or it would be ideal for weekend leisure riding or light off-roading. We personally believe its one of the best sub £1,000 electric mountain bikes out there.
